CMMS Deshae Lott Ministries Inc

CMMS Deshae Lott Ministries was founded in 2007 as a non-profit charity to support people seeking an uplifting path in their search for greater enlightenment, people searching for greater spiritual realization, and people determined to deepen the quality of their personal journeys. The non-profit offered this support primarily through small discussion or study groups, meditation groups, and individual spiritual guidance or counseling led by Deshae E. Lott. Certified Teachers for the group also include Renee Beyer, Susan Caldwell, Diane Boyd, Barbara Jarrell, and Christine Locke. For more than seven years the group convened weekly in the evening for meditation, lectures/presentations, discussions about presented materials, and prayer. Remote students (those who reside out of town and/or participate in group meetings via Internet interface, the telephone, email, and digital sound recordings) and absent students had access to digital recordings of weekly meetings and/or and digital or hard copies of study guide materials.

From 2007-17 CMMS Deshae Lott Ministries Inc used organizational donations to award quality-of-life grants and scholarships to individuals with documented disabilities. CMMS Deshae Lott Ministries Inc. provided more than 60 different awards totaling nearly $50,000. Awardees resided in 25 different states: Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, and West Virginia. Through this Outreach Program the organization’s participants meet 501(c)3 status because they strive

·         to offer some relief of the poor, the distressed, or the underprivileged;

·         to work to eliminate prejudice and discrimination;

·         to demonstrate reverence for life including respect for human and civil rights;

·         to support community improvements; and

·         to facilitate and participate in constructive communications among fellow citizens.

Quality-of-life grant recipients have applied funds to accessibility modifications for their homes, travel expenses related to treatment, durable medical equipment, other medical and personal care supplies, dental care, and home-based caregiving expenses that help them avoid institutionalization.

The post bachelor’s degree scholarship recipients have used awards to fund care givers, medical equipment, and tuition expenses during a course of study at graduate or professional school including the fields of business administration and finance, information, integrative studies, social work, law, art, and divinity.

The non-profit's Outreach Program embodied a long-held vision of Deshae's to provide fellow persons w/severe physical disabilities the kind of help and hope that has been and remains so instrumental to her life and work.

When greater personal health and health care complications converged for Deshae, CMMS Deshae Lott Ministries Inc.’s board members in December 2017 supported a transition that years earlier they had resolved eventually would transpire: CMMS Deshae Lott Ministries Inc.’s assets would be transferred to the Texas A&M University Foundation, representing Deshae’s alma mater, thereby creating the Lott-Sadow-Cleveland scholarship for graduate students with severe physical disabilities. This evolution provides longevity to the vision and goal of CMMS Deshae Lott Ministries Inc.’s Outreach Program’s scholarships.
